“Some People”

by Sky Sunlight Saxon Dragonslayers SSS
1989 song

What if The Rolling Stones’ “Some Girls” were about everyone, not just girls, and instead of sleazy were merely observational? You’d have something like "Some People", Sky Saxon’s what’s-the-point list of human activities from the 1989 album Just Imagine.

Some people like to go to rock shows
Some people like to watch all the sports

That they do, Sky. Thanks for noticing.

"Some People" is actually a very nice tune, a repetitive performance on which the Dragonslayers band sounds quite a lot like Fire Wall. It’s not just Mars Bonfire’s organ, either, although that’s the main ingredient; it’s that the band tones down its usual heavy rock vibe a little.

Sky’s singing is toned down as well on "Some People"; he enjoys checking off all the things that people do (not that they always rhyme or anything, to occasionally startling effect) but comes off as sleepy. Which is how a song like this should be – just lay it all out there and let the listener pick up the slack.
