“Barbie Doll Look”

by Sky Sunlight Saxon/Fire Wall
1988 song

From Sky Sunlight Saxon and Fire Wall comes the song "Barbie Doll Look". It’s a trashy garage rocker replete with an unusually poppy and catchy chorus. "Barbie Doll Look" was released both on the 1988 US album World Fantastic and its fraternal twin in France, the LP ...In Search Of Brighter Colors that same year.

A video was shot for "Barbie Doll Look", roughly camcorder quality, of the band in the studio miming along to the track. Two girls (you know, Barbie dolls) dance vaguely and grin at the camera between shots of the guitarists preening and a temporarily beardless Sky. The singer looks older than his young voice sounds while he yells into his overhead microphone with the relaxed visage of one in command of things. The video drips with that 1980s Los Angeles rock glamor sleaze, and remains a valuable peek at Sky at this point in his life.
