“Lighter”

by Sky Sunlight Saxon
2005 song

The band was called Lighter, and their album Transparency also features a song called "Lighter". Sky Saxon’s 2005 project was a showcase for some strange studio concoctions based around a druggy garage-psych outlook. With admirable contrarianism, "Lighter" is in fact much heavier and more strident than the rest of the CD. Sterling Roswell’s guitar is distorted and fierce, although its tone is trebly and thin – the Lighter credo was to be grimy but not overpowering.

Sky Saxon, in contrast to his bleary murmurings elsewhere on Transparency, is ferocious on "Lighter". Fans of Sky’s 1980s albums by Fire Wall will especially love the lit-up "Lighter", a classic rocker with simple, repetitive chords and an impassioned Sky raging, raging from his echo chamber.
