“Burning Down The Walls Of The City”

by Sky Sunlight Saxon and Fire Wall
1986 song

Why not indulge in a little chaotic kill-’em-all spite? Sky Saxon, having name-checked himself on "Spirit Of The Sixties (Return To The Sixties)" now enlists his whole Fire Wall band in channeling the musical spirit of The Seeds. "Burning Down The Walls Of The City" “borrows” the organ riff from The Seeds’ classic "Mr. Farmer"; there are even add some Jan Savage-style warbly guitar notes played high up on the neck.

Sky is in fine form on "Burning Down The Walls Of The City", his guttural and anguished vocals eschewing any good hippie vibes and instead demanding, “Burn it down! Burn it down! Burn it down!” Somehow, by the song’s end, the Seeds vibe has vanished and it’s a regular ol’ rock song. "Burning Down The Walls Of The City" appeared on the 1986 album Destiny's Children, a.k.a. ...A Groovy Thing.
