“Aphrodite”

One of the few actual new songs on the insane 1987 white-vinyl LP Takes & Glories was "Aphrodite". It was apparently recorded in 1986 with the band SS-20. While the 1960s vibe of "Aphrodite" is enjoyable, Sky Saxon is a mere backup vocalist on the tune. SS-20’s singer Cleopatra is the main singer on "Aphrodite"; she’s great here but Sky fans might be a bit miffed. However they shouldn’t be; "Aphrodite" is one of the standout tracks on Takes & Glories even if the completely bizarre nature of that album qualifies that status significantly.
