“No Escape”

by The Seeds
1965 song

"No Escape" is the second song on The Seeds and has appeared on several compilations and live albums since. "No Escape" was recorded at The Seeds’ second-ever studio session, in Hollywood on July 20, 1965.

The song chugs along with a simple two-chord thrash like a prototypical "Pushin' Too Hard". "No Escape" bubbles musically with Daryl Hooper’s throbbing keyboard supporting Sky Saxon’s fantastic vocal melodies. The chorus is especially spine-tingling. "No Escape" features the phrase “night and day” as did many Sky Saxon songs of this period.

"No Escape" was first available in the United States on The Seeds in June 1966 but was first available in France months before that. In September 1965, GNP Crescendo’s French partner Disques Vogue released a 4-song 7″ EP; one of its songs was "No Escape" (though an exclamation point was added to the song’s title — “No Escape!”). ("Excuse, Excuse", in a version exclusive to that EP, was also first introduced to French record buyers.)
